Local authorities around the country have two days to apply for a special EU grant to provide free Wi-Fi in public spaces.

€225,000 is being made available to local authorities in Ireland under the first phase of this €120 million EU-wide initiative.

In the upcoming call, the first 2,800 municipalities who apply will get a free WiFi4EU voucher.

Grace Bolton of the EU Commission office Ireland says this is a wonderful opportunity for urban centres in the regions to get connected - and it's free.
