6333: IRISH PROPERTY PRICES ROSE AT THREE TIMES THE EU AVERAGE DURING PAST YEAR

Property prices in Ireland rose by 12.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the second quarter of 2017 - almost treble the EU average of 4.3 per cent.

According to new figures from Eurostat, only Slovenia at 13.4 per cent recorded a higher price rise than Ireland in the same period, while house prices fell by 1.7 per cent in Sweden and 0.2 per cent in Italy.

Grace Bolton of the EU Commission in Ireland says that property prices in Ireland rose dramatically over the past year.
