Today (Saturday) marks the start of EU Code Week which runs at various schools and youth clubs across the country until October 21st.

The objective is to raise greater awareness among young people regarding the potential benefits of learning computer coding.

It is hoped that 50 per cent of all schools across Europe will teach coding by 2020.

Grace Bolton of the EU Commission office in Dublin says coding is a great way for young people to learn how to build websites and access computer technology.
