This year's EU Single Market Scoreboard reveals that compared to other European countries, Ireland is slow to apply EU directives in areas such as the environment, waste management and transport.

The Single Market Scoreboard evaluates how EU member states have implemented the laws that make up the EU Single Market. It identifies where countries need to step up their efforts or face sanctions for infringements.

Grace Bolton of the EU Commission says last year alone, 29 infringement cases were taken against Ireland.
