4305: IRELAND TO GAIN TWO EXTRA MEPS

The European Commission has confirmed that Ireland will gain two extra MEPs from next year.

The confirmation follows the decision of the UK to leave the European Union next March.

The Government here has yet to decide which constituencies will gain the extra two seats.

Tim Hayes, Political Officer with the EU Commission in Ireland, says our number of MEPs will rise to thirteen.
