The European Consumer Centre is warning people to be extra vigilant if buying electronic goods in the Canary Islands.

It says a growing number of Irish people have been victims of scams while on holidays there, and while the majority of traders are reputable, some are using deceptive selling techniques to pressurise consumers into paying over the odds for cameras or tablets.

Martina Nee of the European Consumer Centre in Dublin says there are a few tips customers should adhere to when buying such goods.
