New figures show that only 17.6% of Irish women hold positions on boards of publicly listed companies compared to the EU average of 25%.

Statistics released to mark International Women's Day show that the figure in France is 40%.

The number of female public representatives in Ireland is 22% compared to the EU average of 29%.
