Plans are under way to ensure that Ireland and the other EU Member States are better prepared for future natural disasters.

The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management met with the Government to discuss supporting Ireland in case of flooding and hurricanes like 'Storm Ophelia'.

Grace Bolton is Head of Press with the European Commission's office Dublin.

She says the plan would see response capacities made available from Brussels when such disasters occur.
