A County Galway Company is to share in a major EU Commission grant of €2.7 million to develop the latest in high innovation windmill blades.

 Powderblade Ltd at Inverin  in West Galway will partner companies in the Netherlands, UK and Irish company Westbic to develop its product.

 The company manufactures a new type of carbon fibre blade for wind turbines to supply electricity.

Doctor Tomás Flanagan of Powderblade, says the EU grant will help the company grow and expand in to more international markets.
